🐔 Chicken Species
There are three chicken breeds in Egglee, each with different production rates, costs, and lifespans. Better breeds produce more but require more feed.
| Species | Price | Eggs/Day | Feed/Day | Lifespan | Hatch Chance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | $1.00 | 1 | 1 | 183 days | 70% |
| Premium | $10.00 | 3 | 2 | 221 days | 25% |
| Rare | $20.00 | 5 | 3 | 269 days | 5% |
📊 Understanding Hatch Chance
The "Hatch Chance" column shows the probability that a newly hatched chick will become this species. When an egg hatches successfully, the species is randomly selected using these weights: 70% Common, 25% Premium, 5% Rare. This means incubating eggs is the only way to potentially get a Rare or Premium chicken without buying one directly.
Profitability Comparison
Here's how each species compares in daily net value (egg revenue minus feed cost):
| Species | Eggs/Day | Revenue/Day | Feed Cost/Day | Net Profit/Day | ROI (days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 1 | $0.12 | $0.10 | $0.02 | ~50 days |
| Premium | 3 | $0.36 | $0.20 | $0.16 | ~63 days |
| Rare | 5 | $0.60 | $0.30 | $0.30 | ~67 days |
Revenue calculated at system egg sell price of $0.12/egg. Feed cost calculated at $0.10/unit.
Lifetime Profit
Total net profit over the entire lifespan of each chicken:
| Species | Purchase | Lifespan | Total Eggs | Total Revenue | Total Feed Cost | Net Lifetime Profit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | $1.00 | 183 days | ~183 | $21.96 | $18.30 | +$2.66 |
| Premium | $10.00 | 221 days | ~663 | $79.56 | $44.20 | +$25.36 |
| Rare | $20.00 | 269 days | ~1,345 | $161.40 | $80.70 | +$60.70 |
🥚 Egg Production
Eggs are your primary source of income. Understanding how production works helps you maximize earnings.
Production Cycle
The game runs a production cycle every 10 minutes, totaling 144 cycles per day. During each cycle, every alive and fed chicken has a chance to produce an egg.
For example, a Common chicken (1 egg/day) has a 0.69% chance per cycle to produce an egg. Over 144 cycles, this averages out to ~1 egg per day. Production is probabilistic, so daily output may vary slightly.
Egg Statuses
| Status | Description | Actions Available |
|---|---|---|
| Available | Freshly produced or purchased, sitting in your farm | Sell to system ($0.12) or Incubate |
| Incubating | Placed in incubator, waiting to hatch | Wait for hatching result (72 hours) |
| Hatched | Successfully hatched into a chick | None (chick is now growing) |
| Failed | Incubation failed, no chick produced | None (egg is consumed) |
| Sold (System) | Collected and sold to the system | None ($0.12 USDT credited) |
| Expired | Not collected within 7 days | None (egg is lost) |
Selling Eggs
Click "Collect Eggs" to sell all available eggs to the system at the fixed price of $0.12 per egg. The USDT is instantly added to your wallet balance.
Buying Eggs
You can also buy eggs directly from the system for $0.20 per egg via MetaMask (USDT/BEP-20). Purchased eggs can be incubated just like produced eggs, with the same 30% hatch success rate and species probabilities.
💡 Why Buy Eggs?
Buying eggs to incubate is a strategy to rapidly expand your flock. Although you pay $0.20 per egg (vs. $0.12 selling value), a successful hatch gives you a chicken worth $1-$20. With a 30% success rate and weighted species chances, the expected value makes it a worthwhile investment for growth.
🌾 Feed System
Feed is the fuel that keeps your farm running. Without it, your chickens stop producing and will die within 72 hours.
How Feed Works
Every production cycle (every 10 minutes), the system calculates the total feed needed by all your alive chickens:
If you have enough feed, it's automatically deducted and your chickens produce normally. If not, all your chickens enter starvation mode — they stop producing eggs and a 72-hour death timer begins.
Feed Pricing
| Item | Price | Feeds Common Chicken For |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Feed Unit | $0.10 | 1 day (1 feed/day) |
| 10 Feed Units | $1.00 | 10 days |
| 50 Feed Units | $5.00 | 50 days |
Feed Consumption by Species
| Species | Feed/Day | Feed/Cycle (10 min) | Monthly Feed Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 1 | ~0.0069 | $3.00 |
| Premium | 2 | ~0.0139 | $6.00 |
| Rare | 3 | ~0.0208 | $9.00 |
🔥 Incubation & Hatching
Incubation lets you turn eggs into new chickens — the only way to grow your flock without buying directly. Both produced and purchased eggs can be incubated.
The Incubation Process
Key Numbers
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Incubation duration | 72 hours (3 days) |
| Feed consumption during incubation | 0.5 feed/day (1.5 total) |
| Incubation feed cost | $0.15 (1.5 units × $0.10) |
| Hatch success rate | 30% |
| Hatch failure rate | 70% (egg is lost) |
| Species on success: Common | 70% chance |
| Species on success: Premium | 25% chance |
| Species on success: Rare | 5% chance |
What Eggs Can Be Incubated?
All eggs — whether produced by your chickens or purchased from the system — can be incubated. They all have the same 30% success rate and the same species probabilities.
Expected Value Analysis
The expected value of incubating one produced egg (opportunity cost = $0.12 sell price):
The expected value of incubating one purchased egg ($0.20 cost):
Both scenarios have strong positive expected value, making incubation a worthwhile strategy long-term despite the 70% failure rate per attempt. Note: this EV does not include the chick growth feed cost ($0.60), which brings net EV to approximately +$0.39 (produced) or +$0.31 (purchased) per attempt.
🐣 Chick Growth
When an egg hatches successfully, a chick is born. Chicks must be fed daily before they become productive adult chickens.
Growth Requirements
A chick becomes an adult chicken when both conditions are met:
| Condition | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Time elapsed since hatch | 12 days minimum |
| Feed consumption rate | 0.5 feed per day |
| Total feed consumed | 6.0 units (12 days × 0.5/day) |
Growth Cost
Full Incubation + Growth Cost
The total cost to go from egg to adult chicken:
| Stage | Duration | Feed Used | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Egg (produced) | — | — | $0.12 (opportunity cost) |
| Egg (purchased) | — | — | $0.20 |
| Incubation | 3 days | 1.5 units | $0.15 |
| Chick Growth | 12 days | 6.0 units | $0.60 |
| Total (produced egg) | 15 days | 7.5 units | $0.87 |
| Total (purchased egg) | 15 days | 7.5 units | $0.95 |
💀 Death Mechanics
Chickens can die in two ways. Both are permanent — dead chickens cannot be revived.
Natural Death (Lifespan)
Every chicken has a fixed lifespan determined by its species. When the lifespan expires, the chicken dies automatically at the next production cycle.
| Species | Lifespan | Total Eggs (theoretical) | Gross Revenue |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 183 days | ~183 eggs | ~$21.96 |
| Premium | 221 days | ~663 eggs | ~$79.56 |
| Rare | 269 days | ~1,345 eggs | ~$161.40 |
Starvation Death
If your feed balance runs out:
- All your chickens immediately stop producing eggs
- A starvation timer starts for each unfed chicken
- If you refill feed before the deadline, starvation is cleared and production resumes
- If a chicken goes 72 hours (3 days) without feed, it dies permanently
